Casa Co: A Poetic Dialogue of Light Materials and the Rhythm of Life
Casa Co is located in Guadalajara, Mexico. It is a residential project jointly created by the architectural firm JDEstudio and the interior design studio Aagnes. Both emphasize the spirit of craftsmanship, sensitivity to materials, and concern for a contemplative life in their design concepts, thereby creating a residence that engages in dialogue among light, objects, and time.

The architectural part of JDEstudio takes natural materials as its core, emphasizing precision and restraint. The light beige travertine, marble and wood run through the entire house, forming a unified material vocabulary, which shows layers and order in the changes of different lighting. These surfaces are not decorations but elemental elements of the space, independent yet harmonious, creating a serene and almost meditative atmosphere. The building facade is treated with burnt fir (shou sugi ban), contrasting with the vegetation in the garden and the shadows cast by the sunlight, revealing the traces of time.

Aagnes has created an interior that is full of light and intimacy within this framework. The high ceiling living room, constructed with glass and steel, blurs the boundary between the interior and the landscape, making the space a transitional zone between light and shadow. The area shared by family members is more gentle, with sand-colored fabrics and soft lighting creating a quiet atmosphere. The bedroom space, with the afterglow of the setting sun seeping through the curtains, casts a faint shadow on the walls, making daily relaxation part of the architectural narrative.

The entire residence is situated in a lush garden. The morning light shines on the surface of the travertine, and the vegetation softens the scale of the entrance. The swimming pool is as still as a mirror, reflecting the sky. Traditional Mexican artworks and contemporary works are interwoven in the interior scenes, creating a dialogue between the past and the present, and embedding the residence in the continuation of culture. Casa Co is not only a residence, but also a living experience that weaves together light and shadow, materials and the rhythm of life.

In Casa Co, the residence in Guadalajara, Mexico, a serene and profound narrative unfolds through the interplay of light, materials, and the rhythm of life. JDEstudio's architectural vision, rooted in natural materials, creates a space of layers and order, while Aagnes' interior design infuses it with warmth and intimacy.
