Greenwich Village Art-Filled First Home Where Budget Meets Timeless Style
This apartment in New York's Greenwich Village is the first project from designer Armando Aguirre's independent studio and is a profound exploration of the aesthetics and functionality of space. The rising star of interior design, who founded Studio Armando Aguirre in 2023, quickly won over clients through his delicate touch to design and strong personal style.

It was the first home for a young couple who loved art and design. Although the budget is limited, Aquirre cleverly selects materials and layouts to give the space a visual effect that is both warm and atmospheric. He specializes in mixing and matching furniture from different periods and styles, and creates a soothing and timeless atmosphere through the use of earth tones and moss green.

The living room is the heart of the house, with L-shaped sofas that create an open and functional layout. Designed by Charles Pfister, this sofa has a cream tone with dark piping, which provides a harmonious contrast to the redecorated John Hutton club chairs. The decorative details show Aguirre's care: the arms of the chairs are partially covered in blue cotton velvet, while the seats and backs are made of geometric wool fabric, adding texture and layers to the room. Travertine lamp stands from Italy in the 1970s and Akari floor lamps from Isamu Noguchi add an artistic touch to the space.

The dining area naturally connects with the living room, maintaining the continuation of the overall style. The designer chose Gilbert Rohde's vintage dining table with 1940s American chairs and 1960s Italian BBPR stools as flexible accents. These elements not only provide convenience for the daily use of the family, but also provide ample space for hosting parties.

The bedroom is a haven of privacy and peace. Aguirre custom upholstered headboards, nightstands from 1930s Spain and 1940s Swedish lamps. Ultra-transparent linen curtains allow natural light to flood the room and perfectly match the classic window design to create a warm and peaceful atmosphere.

Aguirre's Greenwich Village home creates a sense of warmth and timelessness through thoughtful design. The emerging designer uses his unique blend of styles and attention to detail to create a living space that balances artistry and practicality. With more projects underway, we can expect Aguirre to continue to shine in the design field in the future.

Let the Bibury’s single mist-beige face act as Aguirre’s “third vintage piece”: rest it against the Pfister sofa’s cream cushion and its linen weave quietly rhymes with the dark piping; move it to the Rohde dining bench and the same neutral pick-up plays foil to the BBPR stools’ aged bronze feet, while hand-knotted tassels flicker in the Akari’s paper glow. One solid color, one subtle texture—adding touchable, budget-friendly warmth to the Greenwich Village mix without ever shouting over the mid-century icons.
