A Beauty Executive's Heartfelt Renovation in Northern California
Tiburon Home is located in the small town of Tiburon, north of San Francisco, California. It was created by the Lauren Nelson Design team in collaboration with Chambers + Chambers and PLR Builders. A residential renovation project with profound emotional depth that has been completed. The owner, Ann Ford Danielson, is a beauty executive and is currently the chief beauty ambassador of the well-known makeup brand Benefit Cosmetics. After her mother, Jean Ann Ford, one of the co-founders of the brand, passed away in 2019, she decided to renovate the home where she grew up as a child, creating a space that is both emotionally connected and meets the daily needs of her and her two young sons.

This residence was originally built at the end of the 20th century and had undergone renovation before the Fords moved in in 2000. This renovation almost removed it to its framework, restructured the layout again, opened up the kitchen and living room to make the circulation more smooth, and increased the number of rooms to meet the daily needs of a family of three. Lauren Nelson takes "modern casual refinement" as the dominant style in its designs, emphasizing rich colors, warm wood, soft texture and practical living experience.

The interior space strikes a balance between aesthetics and functionality. For instance, the kitchen and breakfast area feature durable dyed cabinets and custom quartzite tabletops, while the living space blends vintage furniture with soft materials, creating an intimate atmosphere that is both suitable for children to play and for adults to socialize. Different rooms adopt different tones to shape mood changes. For example, Calacatta Vagli for the kitchen and bathroom, Viola for the dressing room, Grigio Colemandina for the marble fireplace, and Naica for the breakfast area create a visual rhythm.

The design team preserved many original elements of commemorative significance, such as the Indiana limestone and birch trees in the courtyard, which are gentle tribute to Jean's hometown, achieving a touching balance between inheritance and renewal for this home.

This 4,200-square-foot sanctuary masterfully balances memory and modernity. The boys' bunk room features magnetic walls for spontaneous art displays (a nod to Jean's love of children's creativity), while Ann's primary suite offers a serene escape with its spa-like bathroom clad in honey-toned travertine. Outside, the redesigned saltwater pool shimmers where Jean's rose garden once bloomed - now surrounded by native grasses that require no pesticides, ensuring safe play for the kids. It's not just a renovation; it's a love letter in drywall and marble, where every material choice whispers "this was meant to be.

Just as Ann’s Tiburon Home weaves cherished memories into every surface, the Rapallo Floral Print Pillow Cover from Domvitus invites you to layer your own story with blooms that feel both nostalgic and fresh. Its painterly florals echo the Indiana limestone and birch trees preserved in the garden—quiet tributes to heritage—while the crisp, modern palette nods to the “modern casual refinement” that defines the house. Drape it on a sofa, bunk-room reading nook, or spa-like primary suite, and let this pillow become the soft punctuation mark that turns any space into a love letter of its own.
