Hudson Valley Cottage Century-Old Forest Retreat Restored with Soul
The Hudson Valley Cottage is located in the natural forest area of the Hudson River Valley in New York. The renovation and reconstruction of the century-old rural cottage was completed by the design studio Jesse Parris-Lamb. The project was jointly led by Whitney Parris-Lamb and Amanda Jesse. The usable area of the house is approximately 232 square meters. The design team respected the original structure of the old house and the regional characteristics of rural architecture, and adopted a core strategy of meticulous restoration and partial optimization to retain the texture and details of the building's accumulated over the years.

The walls of the living room are painted with Farrow & Ball's Wembey White. Combined with the Adirondack style wooden structure and the original stone-built fireplace, it establishes a simple and soothing interior tone. The soft furnishings of the space use a transparent fabric from the brand in collaboration with Kufriri for the window coverings. The team adjusted the layout of the 1.2-meter staggered doorways to balance the visual proportions of the interior and significantly enhance the spatial flow and completeness of the reception area's furnishings.

The entire interior decoration system is built based on the owner's private collections and family heirlooms. The furnishings in the living room are all reconstructed using refurbished old items. The team replaced the vintage chairs with Décors Barbares printed fabric, reupholstered the old teak sofa in camel-colored velvet, and paired it with a custom-made fabric sofa by Bemz, creating a harmonious unity between the retro aesthetic quality and the modern living comfort.

The kitchen area was added in the 1980s. The renovation project retained the original pine cabinets, updated the floor material, and combined Zia Tile handmade terracotta tiles with Spinneybeck leather pulls. The entire house's wooden baseboards enhance the spatial atmosphere. The stone facade houses a retro heating stove, paired with Knoll retro chairs and a custom plaster chandelier by London artist Alexandra Robinson. The low-saturation natural color scheme echoes the natural scenery of the forest, creating a relaxed space atmosphere suitable for vacation living.

In Hudson Valley Cottage, where Farrow & Ball's Wimborne White washes over Adirondack beams and a century-old stone hearth anchors the living room, the Domvitus Siena Striped Floral Rustic Cottage Farmhouse Style Pillow Cover slips in like a found heirloom. Its vintage striped florals and rustic cotton weave echo the very soul of Jesse Parris-Lamb's restoration—softening the camel-velvet teak sofa while picking up the terracotta tones of Zia Tile's handmade kitchen floor. Drape it across the Bemz custom banquette or the Knoll retro chair by the plaster chandelier, and the cottage-style blooms instantly bridge Decors Barbares' bold prints with the forest's muted greens beyond the Kufri sheer windows. For Hudson Valley interior enthusiasts seeking farmhouse cottage decor that honors century-old craftsmanship and family heirloom storytelling, the Domvitus Siena collection delivers timeless rustic charm at an accessible touchpoint—shop now at domvitus.com to layer your own forest-retreat narrative with this striped floral pillow cover that proves even the most carefully restored Adirondack sanctuary deserves one sun-washed, pastoral bloom.
